Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader, the new expansion and its new edition are 40% off
Warhammer 40,000 RPG Rogue Trader, which released its first DLC last week, Void Shadows is now on sale for the lowest price ever on Steam: $30 for the base game alone, or $39 if you buy the base game with a DLC Season Pass that includes Void Shadows as well as future add-ons.
Owlcat's games tend to take a while to come into their own after release. While we liked Rogue Trader when it was released, they have taken a little time to become truly great. After I played the company's previous RPG Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous with a full year of patches and DLC, it became my retroactive GOTY for 2021.
Studio's version of a 40K RPG casts players as a titular Rogue Trader. It sounds mercantile and dull, but Rogue Traders have city-sized ships with a wide remit. They can do anything as long as it is in the Imperium’s best interest or nobody notices. Expect a Baldur’s Gate-like CRPG with a million hours of gameplay, complete companion romances, and a unique 40K style moral choice system. Your moral compass points consist of Normal Nice Guy (boring), for The Emperor (funny fascist space), and Void psycho (now that's a conversation).
The Void Shadows add-on introduces a new character, a dual-wielding assassin woman, and focuses a void invasion into your precious vessel. Remember, Owlcat's colossal scale means it can keep opening new areas until it runs out ideas.
The Steam sale for Rogue Trader DLC and its pass will run until October 7. Owlcat has revealed that the next DLC for Rogue Trader will be released in Spring 2025.
