Diablo 4's new class, and a pile of overpowered bugs, keeps it at the top.

Diablo 4's newest class is also the best by far. I'm talking trillions of times more damage than the old rusty classes from 2023. Blizzard will show abbreviated numbers of damage in the next patch to keep the screen clean during combat. The next patch will not fix the bugs that keep almost all spiritborn builds at the top of meta.

The Diablo 4 community's best minds have spent the past few weeks deconstructing this class. They found major bugs which seem to increase their power exponentially regardless of the build you use. One bug is responsible for increasing their damage up to five times. It is also very easy to use.

There's a passive bonus for creating a barrier (Diablo 4's temporary health bonus) that is equal to your current health. Viscous Shield's tooltip states this, at least. It's actually based off your base health - the tiny number you'd see on your character if he were completely naked. This means that your damage will increase if your barrier matches your total health.

This wouldn't be a problem if you could get a lot more barrier in your builds. But because there are so many crossovers with spiritborn abilities, you can add this insane bonus damage to almost any build, as long as it includes a way to generate barrier. There's a runeword combo that can do it for free.
Here are some other bugs that can cause spiritborn damage:

  • The jaguar class's mechanic, which captures all damage dealt in the last.5 second for an extra-big hit, incorrectly reapplies your bonuses a 2nd time
  • The "Resolve", a bonus stat on your gear, can be upgraded much higher than any other stat. This will increase your defense and damage.
  • The staff that drains your vigor every time you use an ability to guarantee critical hits boosts your damage as you generate more resources. Nobody knows why.

Diablo 4 YouTuber NickTew explains how these are broken, and why they are responsible for most of the spiritborns' strength right now. The Pit is the hardest dungeon in the game, with monsters who gain billions of life as you climb up its 150 levels. The highest tier was never reached before the Vessel of Hatred update. Spiritborn can easily breeze through it. Mekuna, a former sorceress, cleared it with a build which peaked at 235 trillion damages. I'm pretty certain that if you hit a creature this hard, they're sent back to Diablo 3

Blizzard will fix the spiritborn build tomorrow, which only required one button. This fix will prevent you from repeatedly spamming your evade. I don't think Blizzard will fix any other bugs until next season, simply because it would be so devastating to everyone playing the new class. It's ironic that bugs are so bad because the class was designed so well, allowing you to enhance any skill with one of the four spirit guardians. This is similar to a sorcerer using elemental affinities. Enjoy the spiritborn now, because their astronomical powers will likely return to earth next season.
