Fallout: London celebrates near-eradication by surpassing one million redemptions on GOG
Today, October 23rd, is Fallout Day. This is the day when a nuclear exchange took place between the US and China that wiped out the majority of humanity. It is therefore fitting that today, October 23, is Fallout Day: the day when a nuclear exchange between the US and China wiped out most of humanity from the face of the Earth.
Team Folon announced that "Fallout London was redeemed more than 1 million times" on GOG. The mark "makes this one of the fastest [releases] ever in the history of Good Old Games."
Thank you from the Fallout London team. You've made the journey unforgettable. We're overwhelmed by your support, and we can't be more excited to share what comes next. We'll stay calm and continue to fix those bugs, and we'll be seeing you at our next landmark."
GOG celebrated the big number by sending out a separate message. GOG wrote: "Supporting a creative and ambitious fan project is an adventure we decided to embark on. Not only to show our gamership but also to ensure the rich, immersive universes of games like Fallout will continue to thrive." "Today, GOG couldn't be more pleased to see how successful Fallout: London is. It has reached all 1 million owners of our platform and achieved it on Fallout Day. We'd like this moment to congratulate Team Folon for their incredible record!
It's unclear whether Fallout: London reached a million redemptions on GOG today, or if everyone decided to wait until today. Team Folon claimed that there were close to a million redemptions last week when the 1.02 update went live. It's a good thing to reach such a high number on a day of such importance.
It's possible that I am overly cynical, but in the end, it doesn't matter. It's an amazing accomplishment, and it's wonderful to see a fan project succeeding so well, when so many ambitious projects fail to reach the finish line.
Fallout: London is a great game to play if you haven't already. Fallout 4: Game of the Year edition (which is required for the mod) and all other Fallout games, including the unfairly maligned Fallout Tactics, are currently 75% off at GOG. New Vegas is 60% off for some reason.
