Fallout's makeup team hid an easter egg that fans 'jumped' on immediately.

Prime TV's Fallout Series had over 25 years of reference material. Michael Harvey, the Emmy-nominated head of the makeup department at Prime TV's Fallout series, said that director Jonathan Nolan wanted his show to feel authentic in the world that fans have known for decades... yet he didn't want to copy the source material exactly.

Harvey told PC Gamer that "Jonathan Nolan] told me explicitly to use the game as a guide." Harvey said Nolan wanted to his team "lean in and take elements from the world as it is" but also use their imagination and creativity. Nolan told Harvey to "don't carbon-copy anything."

But rules were meant to be broken. Harvey said that during the shooting, costume designer Amy Wescott dressed this actor like someone "right out of a game."

"So, I took that character, and that likeness, and literally made it into one of the characters in the game. And I thought, you know what,? It was a [minor] player. "Nobody's going to catch it," said he.

Harvey's subtle homage to Fallout was so subtle that even Nolan, a self-proclaimed Fallout enthusiast, didn't notice. Eagle-eyed fans, though? They didn't miss anything.

"[Nolan] didn’t catch it. The writers didn't get it. Reddit, on the other hand, caught it and went crazy for it. They went crazy over it and said, "We know exactly who this character is." We can tell you which game, which map, and who that person was.

Cricket is a wandering weapons dealer from Fallout 4 who stops occasionally outside Diamond City and Vault. Cricket is a minor character that you only buy junk from a few times.

Fallout fans are the only ones who can answer this question. The character in the show is named Rink. She appears in a scene that lasts two minutes, but she only has ten second of screen time. Reddit's Fallout community was eagle-eyed enough to notice.

In episode 5, Max, Lucy and two other survivors are crossing the same bridge from the opposite direction. Lucy and Max try to avoid a violent encounter, but in Fallout, no matter how good your speech score, you can't always stop the bullets.

You can see the similarities between Rink and Cricket in the images below. Her wardrobe, her gaunt look, the redness around her eyes, even the small scar on her eyebrow, are all the same.

No doubt. Cricket is definitely Rink.

Harvey said, "That was the one little easter-egg that I hoped nobody would notice right away." "They jumped right on that." So, kudos for the level and depth to which these fans will go."
