Former Little Nightmares developer signs Epic deal for upcoming sci-fi/action game
Section 9 Interactive, a studio founded by Tarsier Studios veterans in 2020, and formerly known as Little Nightmares, has announced an agreement with Epic Games to fund the development of a sci-fi-action game in development.
Section 9 will retain ownership and creative control of the new game under the Epic deal. The studio will receive at least 50% of the revenue from sales once the game is released.
Gustaf Heinerwall, co-founder of Section 9 Interactive, said: "Working with Epic Games Publishing has been an incredible experience for us." "Ever since we met the team at EGP, Epic Games Publishing, we felt this partnership was perfect for our studio. They have given us incredible support, and freedom to fully explore the creative vision we have. This is all we could ask for from a publisher. We are grateful for this opportunity and excited to see what happens next."
"What comes Next" will hopefully give a good look at the new title. The game was announced in January 2021 and since then, we haven't seen anything about it except for a message saying "we are hiring". The post today about the Epic publishing deal is the first activity posted on Section 9's X page since August 2021 when the studio announced it was a recipient of an Epic MegaGrant. Epic hinted at more to come in the hopefully-not-too-distant future in its own post on X: "They're DEEP in development... stay tuned for updates."
