In Ogu and the Secret Forest, you can be a cute platypus and solve Zelda style puzzles.

Ogu and the Secret Forest is the latest entry in the ever-growing genre that imitates the old Zelda top-down titles. Ogu, which was released on Steam at the beginning of last month, has received a positive response from its early players. The 2D art, characters and platypus with hats are all charming.

The gameplay emphasizes exploring the globe to find puzzles and secrets to solve mysteries or recover magical items. Trailers and animated gifs demonstrate a wide variety of puzzles. I can see sokoban-style push-object puzzles, mazes of gates that rise and drop in patterns, or even a pattern matching puzzle using musical instruments.

Ogu, unlike some other games in the genre still has the combat elements that were essential to older top-down adventure games.

It's true that Ogu is focusing on bosses who are tough to beat. The boss battles are brutal, and you must learn their patterns to avoid them.

There are other cute things you can do, such as collecting new hats and masques for Ogu. Or have Ogu draw sketches in the landscape - some of which contain clues and hints.

Steam offers Ogu and the Secret Forest for just $18.
