Logitech’s new Superlight mouse isn't a replacement for the Superlight 2, but its improved design has earned it a longer name.

Logitech’s Pro gaming mouse line, as its name suggests, is designed to be used by professionals. These premium devices are expensive, but they have super-sensitive sensors, good battery life and a lightweight frame. The Logitech Superlight 2 Dex Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse looks impressive too. It's a shame that it seems to be competing against its predecessor, the Superlight 2.

The new Superlight 2 Dex, announced today at Logitech’s annual Logi Play conference has a battery life of up to 95-hours and a maximum DPI of 44k. It also offers 888 IPS, which is the fastest tracking speed currently available on the market. This mouse's 8 kHz rate of polling is a great addition to its Pro title.

One of the biggest disadvantages of an 8kHz mouse is the fact that the constant sending and analyzing of information under the mouse drains the battery very quickly. We don't know yet what 95 hours of battery life translates to when using the mouse at different DPIs or settings, but we will be able tell you more at a later time in our full review. The 95-hour figure is based on constant motion with a 1 kHz frequency, so expect less at higher rates.

The Hero 2 sensor found inside the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 Dex can also be found in the current Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2. This model is capable of a maximum DPI of 32k at the moment. A software update in October will also make the older Superlight 2 capable of 44k dpi and 888 IPS. There's no need to upgrade.

It is the exact same weight (60 g) and has the same sensor as the previous model, but it's a bit taller and wider. It looks very similar.

The shape is the main difference. The bottom of mouse is curved and protruded to the left to help hold your hand in place. This design is less ambidextrous. It is priced the same as the standard Superlight. The main reason to choose it is the Dex shape or the higher polling rates.

You can purchase the Logitech Superlight 2 Dex Lightspeed for $159 if you want to upgrade and get those pro-level specs. The Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 Dex Lightspeed is available in Black, White and Pink. But the Pink is my favorite.

The Logitech GPro 2 Lightspeed, a wireless mouse with Hero 2 sensors, is also available. It has a 95-hour battery life and is slightly more affordable. The mouse is slightly heavier at 80 g, and it has a classic design. It is available in Black and White and Pink for $129. These mice will have to do a lot, however, to knock mice like the Razer DeathAdder V3 hyperspeed off the top spot for the best gaming mice. The Logitech G915X low profile keyboard is a bolder update announced at Logi Play in this year.

Logitech's current line of mice is good, but it does not seem to be competing with anyone else.
