The brahmin escort missions in Fallout 76 are now available. You can start fighting deathclaws and mole people to build your new outpost.

The brahmin escort mission has been awaited since Fallout 76 Milepost Zero update, which was announced along with the Skyline Valley update, earlier this year. Now, months later, the update is finally out.

A Bump in the Road, a new questline in Milepost Zero, introduces brahmin-escort missions. You can now help the Blue Ridge Caravan Company along with a withered Brahmin and its Resources across the Shenandoah Valley, while fighting off hordes ghouls and mole people, as well as deathclaws and other monsters.

A Bump in the Road was released alongside a new trailer which shows just how chaotic the escort missions will be. During a typical supply run, you will likely encounter super mutants who are heavily armed, as well as mole-people, who are less threatening, but can still cause some damage with their claws. A short appearance by a deathclaw is also made at the end of the trailer.

Some enemies will come at you from a distance, while others like raiders may attack you directly. It's your responsibility to be everywhere at once, and keep an eye out for enemies who may be lurking behind you or positioned on distant vantage points.

The action is chaotic and fun, as we've come expect from Fallout. But the real fun lies between the escort mission. There's more to completing supply runs than simply helping the locals. You can hunker down at the Milepost Zero outpost. This is another C.A.M.P. but the outpost remains active and gives you access to a new home in Shenandoah Valley.

Bill LaCoste, the lead producer, told me previously that players would be able to customize their outposts: "There are a lot more opportunities for people to build within their outpost." It's like building your home in Skyrim. You'll have to put in a lot of detail to make it yours. It's going be really cool." Before seeing this trailer, I had no idea what it meant.

The trailer gives us an idea of how an outpost might look after we've seen all the action from the supply runs. Initially, I thought that it would be a modest abode in a cave where you could store trinkets, traders, and other items. But, from the looks of it, it has much more potential.

The outpost looks more like a large, abandoned tunnel than a single-room cave. There is space for dining tables, a game room, and of course, all your trinkets. You can upgrade this area by helping the Blue Ridge Caravan Company to complete deliveries. You'll also unlock new traders who will help with the outpost, and supply missions.

It's not just about you. You also need to create space for your brahmin. You can collect resources and create a nice stable to keep several brahmin happy and healthy between escort mission. After seeing how much these poor animals have to carry, we can all afford a little more kindness to them in their downtime.
