Next week, Spectre Divi, the most exciting tactical FPS since Valorant is released.
After Morgan tried out the beta for Spectre Divide, a free-to-play shooter with an unusual two-characters-per-player setup, he said it was so fun that he couldn't stop thinking about it.
Morgan's enthusiasm for the competitive FPS is certainly a positive sign. We just learned that it will be released in early access next Monday.
Spectre Divide has three teams, which is smaller than the usual five in shooters such as Counter-Strike or Valorant. But it's still not a 3v3 because everyone has two bodies. Morgan explained: "You can switch between your first and second bodies at any time, anywhere on the map."
Morgan said it worked. He also liked Spectre Divide, which has a shooting style that is more Rainbow Six Siege-like than Counter-Strike, in that you can shoot and move without affecting your accuracy. I can understand the appeal of CS2’s stop-and go gunplay - it's its own talent - but I've always liked run-andgun games. I've played too much Quake II to change my habits.
"We are super excited about the true-to-crosshair ADS, which unlocks tac shooters for people who don't like [Counter-Strike]'s shooting model," said Lee Horn, game director. "Hopefully, we've provided them with that."
Early access to Spectre Divide begins on Tuesday, September 3, at 9 am Pacific. More information is available on the Steam page and Morgan's recent preview.
