Nvidia's new AI PC social media channel has me frothing at the mouth for the in-house processor we all want
Nvidia is the king of the AI castle. It's huge and frightening, but its tendrils haven't reached the consumer PC market yet. Nvidia AI was traditionally more of a datacenter thing.
Nvidia has just launched a new social media platform aimed at the home computing AI sector, giving credence to recent rumours about an all-Nvidia processor for consumer PCs.
The channel is on X, and it's named "NVIDIA PC" (as spotted By VideoCardz). Nvidia's "Hello, World" is a proverbial "Hello, Nvidia AI PC channel!" We're here to explore AI on your PC, whether you are a deep AI fan or just curious. Follow along for the latest tech, news, and AI inspiration."
It makes sense that Nvidia would focus its AI expertise more heavily on the PC market. Why wouldn't it, I mean? It's already a leader in the AI datacentre industry and has the money and expertise necessary to dominate any other AI market segment.
The PC segment, which is now starting to be called the AI PC segment, is a huge market. While there are many competitors, mainly from Qualcomm, I would bet that Nvidia has both the AI infrastructure and the resources to weather this particular storm.
We're hoping that Nvidia's push into the AI PC segment will result in a nice shiny black-and green Arm-based processor running Windows. It's not a foolish hope. We've been hearing about this for more than a year.
It would not mean this, of course. Nvidia has a whole AI infrastructure already developed for its datacenter server, so it's a matter of how to bring this more directly to consumer PCs with Nvidia hardware. Just like DLSS for example.
Nvidia announced a number of new tools at Microsoft Ignite that "enable game and application developers to harness powerful RTX graphics cards to accelerate complex AI workflows in applications such as AI agents and app assistants, and digital humans." Updates to ModelOpt, for example, will enable PCs to run AI models faster and more accurately using RTX GPUs. And updates to Nvidia ACE "bring life to agents, avatars, and assistants."
What could be a better place to house such a thing than an Nvidia PC? Especially if the latest rumours are true and Nvidia's Arm APU offers Strix Halo mobile performance, or RTX 4070. This would not only mean great gaming performance but also, presumably, some stellar AI compute. A perfect stomping grounds for all the new AI tools Nvidia is launching.
The same rumour claims that the company "is trying to rush this thing by late 2025 or at the latest 2026." This claim doesn't seem impossible, given recent Windows on Arm enhancements such as the fact that it now supports AVX instructions and AVX2.
This new Nvidia Channel at least lends credence to the idea that we might soon be sitting in front of an all-Nvidia AI PC. If it does offer RTX mobile performance, then that's a very exciting prospect for us, regardless of AI.
