Path of Exile 2 will be available in early access starting November.

Five years have passed since Grinding Gear Games released Path of Exile 2. I've spent those five years wondering when I will be able to return to the endless grind of building perfect loot. We finally know, thanks to a reveal made at Gamescom's Opening Night Live today, when the sequel to this free-to-play Diablo clone will be playable. Path of Exile 2 will enter early access on 15 November 2024.

The trailer that accompanied the announcement of early access has all of the aesthetic hallmarks you'd expect to see in a Path of Exile sequel: It's got gruesome horrors. It has ominous religious undertones. It has a figure who is overzealous and declares their intention to "sweep this world aside and build it again." All of it is in there.

We also get to see a list of bosses that we will almost certainly be farming hundreds and hundreds of times. A mysterious figure with a skull headdress emerges out of a pit within an underground tomb. A four-armed creature with blood-smeared arms brandishes axes and braziers that are on fire. A golem with an uncomfortably large number of hands raises its shattered blade. There's a plant that is extremely angry.

We've finally got our latest Path of Exile 2 gameplay. Exiles are shown fighting bosses in both solo and co-op modes in a variety of environments, from temple rooftops to deserts. PoE 2's dodge-rolling is evident in the video.

It will be a long wait before PoE 2 is released, but I'll use the time to play the latest PoE Season.
