Rumor: Details on Valve's New PvP Shooter

Gabe Follower, a Valve enthusiast known for occasionally leaking company information, claims to have uncovered details about Valve's next game, which was initially a spin-off of Half-Life.

Here's what Gabe Follower revealed:
✅ The game appears to be called Deadlock. This is also suggested by the creator of SteamDB, who linked to a social media page for Deadlock (currently private).
✅ The project was previously known by the names Neon Prime and Citadel.
✅ It is a fast-paced, competitive third-person shooter with preset characters.
✅ Two teams of six players each battle on a large map with four main lanes.
✅ The game features abilities, items, and tower defense mechanics.
✅ There are flying rails for rapid movement, similar to those in BioShock Infinite.
✅ The setting is a blend of fantasy and steampunk, featuring mages, strange creatures, and robots.
✅ The main map resembles a steampunk Eastern European city. Initially, the game had sci-fi elements from Half-Life and Portal, but these received negative feedback during playtests, so the developers shifted focus to a fantasy theme.
✅ The hero design is reminiscent of the Dota universe.
✅ According to Gabe Follower, the game is like a mix of Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Valorant, Smite, and Orcs Must Die.

If this is indeed Citadel, Valve has been working on it for at least five years, with traces of the project found as far back as 2019. In 2022, Valve registered the trademark Neon Prime, but it seems the game has been renamed again and will be promoted as Deadlock.

It's worth noting that Valve has struggled with new multiplayer games in recent years: they attempted to relaunch Artifact but failed, and Dota Underlords quickly stopped receiving updates.

The creator of SteamDB confirms that the screenshot is from Deadlock, matching Gabe Follower's description.
