Space Marine 2 has its first hotfix, and ultrawide support as well as private PvE lobbying are coming soon. 'We read all of your feedback very carefully'
The first hotfix to Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 has been released. It fixes a few rare crashes and boosts performance for some hardware. Developer Saber Interactive has announced that a larger patch with more changes is coming soon.
Space Marine 2 is doing very well. It reached a peak concurrent players count of over 225,000 on Steam's launch day, a Monday no less. The game has now racked up over two million players. Saber Interactive's chief creative officer Tim Willits believes it is the fastest-selling title he and former id employee Todd Hollenshead ever worked on.
(As a comparison, the 2016 Doom Reboot, which was released while Willits was still at id Software as studio head, had a peak simultaneous player count of just under 44,000 on Steam. So yeah, I believe it.
Space Marine 2 isn’t perfect, but what is? Some players have experienced crashes and performance problems. Today's "quick-fix" is designed to address at least some of these problems.
Here's the menu:
Bug fixes and crashes
- Fixes some rare crashes that can occur when the game is launched
- Fixes a rare crash that could have occurred during the first cutscene
- Fixes for other rare crashes
- Fixes several rare bugs that caused soft locks in story mode
PC Only
- Optimized CPU behaviour on high-end CPUs
A larger patch is in the works and should arrive later in September. It will add support for Ultrawide displays, private PvE lobbys, a new "sparring area" in the Battle Barge, as well as the usual "and much more!" There will also be a second, possibly larger round of bug fixes.
The dev team stated, "Please trust us when we tell you that we are reading all your feedback with great care." It takes time to process all the messages. We see and hear you.
We are aware of all the bugs you have encountered. We are working hard to fix these bugs.
Space Marine 2 players are encouraged to report any bugs they encounter on Focus Home's community platform.
