Square Enix's Yoshi-P promises more simultaneous releases, as the company realizes that people don't want to wait years for their games.

Some games companies are still a little weird about release dates in 2024. Rockstar waited a year to release Red Dead Redemption 1 for Switch and PS4 (and who knows what's going to happen with GTA 6), while Square Enix danced around the Final Fantasy 16 PC version we all knew would be coming, even though it was still in 'only on PS5 phase'.

The good news is that we might be able to tolerate a little less of this from the second of these two corporations in the future (Rockstar cannot help). In a conversation with 4gamer, FF14 Director and the most exhausted man in Monster Hunter Naoki Yoshi-P Yoshida stated (all quotes below are machine-translated). "In the future Square Enix titles would be released on each platform more often."

Fantasian: Neo Dimension is the big-screen version, released on Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and PC in December, of the Apple Arcade 2021 game. Yoshi-P says, "We'll release it simultaneously on all five platforms to ensure that as many people can play it as possible." The programmers at Mistwalker [Corporation] have done a great job.

Yoshi-P has actually praised Mistwalker's hard work a few times. It appears that releasing Fantasian simultaneously on so many platforms may have caused some headaches for the studio. We apologize for the inconvenience we caused to the Mistwalkers. However, the fact that it was released simultaneously on so much media has led to a lot of excitement. So we are grateful you did a great job.

Imagine the overall excitement! I may be a bit bitter, but Square Enix would have probably seen just as much excitement--or even more--if we hadn't waited a whole year to play FF16. It could be fair. I only write about games, I don't create them. If a simultaneous launch caused Mistwalker problems, it's possible that Square had reworked some processes and internal workflows in order to get everything running well enough to increase the cadence for simultaneous releases.

Or, maybe the company is just weird. We may never find out.
