Stalker 2 has updated system requirements. I have bad news: it's going be even bigger than expected.

We reminded everyone yesterday, a little over a week before the release of Stalker 2 that it will eat up 150GB of storage space. So you'd better either make some extra room or buy some.

GSC Game World released finalized, updated system requirements today. And whoops, they're going to be even bigger.

The slightly larger footprint -- 160GB instead of 15GB -- is small enough to be amusing rather than a real headache. The minimum RAM requirement has increased from 8GB up to 16GB.

The "high" system requirement is now "recommended", while the "medium" specification is much higher. There's a new "epic specification" for those who want to play at 4K/60fps. This is epic.

Now, let's look at the new numbers.

Low (1080p at 30 fps).

  • CPU : Intel Core i7-7700K AMD Ryzen 5 16000X
  • GPU : Nvidia GeForce 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX580 8GB or Intel Arc A750
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage 160GB SSD

Medium (1080p, 60 fps):

  • CPU : Intel Core i7-9700K AMD Ryzen 7-3700X
  • GPU : Nvidia GeForce GTX 2070 Super/RTX 4060 or Radeon RX 5780 XT
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage 160GB SSD

High (1440p at 60 fps).

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-11700 AMD Ryzen 7 5-800X
  • GPU : Nvidia GeForce GTX 3070 Ti/RTX 4070, AMD Radeon 6800 XT
  • RAM: 32GB
  • Storage 160GB SSD

Epic (4K, 60+ frames per second):

  • CPU : Intel Core i7-13700KF AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
  • GPU : Nvidia GeForce GTX 4080 or AMD Radeon 7900 XTX
  • RAM: 32GB
  • Storage 160GB SSD

Some X followers are a little concerned about the heavy hardware. Steam discussions also show some sweat, with one user writing, "Crysis gives you a sideways glance." Others have pointed out the lack of mention of any upscaling options. GSC Game World stated in a reply that DLSS will be supported as well as FSR, but did not provide further details.

I'm a bit nervous about running Stalker 2 with my own system. It's been rock-solid for many years, but the bump in minimum specs has me wondering how long it's actually been. It's still speculative, until the game is released and we can see what it does on PCs with different capabilities. That's scheduled to happen on Nov. 20.
