Steam has restored friendship: Valve fixed the screenshot manager, and now all is well in the world.

My 35-day nightmare is over. Valve has quietly restored an important piece of its screenshot-management functionality, and along with it a crucial piece of my sanity.

When I was looking for screenshots in Steam last month, I noticed that Valve had replaced the old button which took you straight to the screenshot folder of the game on the disk with a "Share button" that allowed you to save images one by one to a destination of your choice. This was not a happy moment. Why would I resave something that I already know exists in a folder of my computer? Why was this folder hidden from me? What happened to "Show on Disk"?

It seems that beauty can still exist on the planet. Steam's latest update brings back the "Show on Disk", option when you right click any screenshot in your Library, jumping straight to that folder within File Explorer. Excelsior!

The option returning surprised me so much that I was worried I had forgotten to right-click in the last month. But it was there all along. Morgan Park, a PC Gamer contributor, confirmed that the option was not available when he right clicked a screenshot. He hadn't updated his Steam client to the latest beta version. After a quick upgrade, the three most beautiful English words appeared before his eyes.

Steam's beta client update notes indicate that the context menu option returned nine days ago. Morgan, however, restarted Steam and his PC just two days prior and did not have this feature. If you've been missing the quick access to screenshots, you should make sure your client is fully updated.

It's a great addition, even though we at PC Gamer can be a difficult group to please. Chris Livingston, my colleague, declared that the return of this option was a half-measure:
"Put the folder button back Valve. I don't have all day to right-click!

It's true that the new method requires an extra click and is not as intuitive as Valve’s old folder button. This could be wasting whole seconds in your day! don have to right-click all day, but I would still like to see Show on Disk restored in its former glory.
