Prime Day has reduced the price of our favorite modular and compact keyboards.

Nothing brings me more joy than the clickety-clack of a solid, mechanical keyboard. The clickety-clack of my solid mechanical keyboard, which I bought for a reasonable, if you don't say generous, price, is the only thing that brings me joy.

These two Mountain keyboards are available at a price that is currently affordable. The Mountain Everest Max modular keyboard is currently available at Amazon for $130, saving $50. The Mountain Everest 60 compact keyboard is also available at Amazon for $50, saving $20.

These two keyboards are now $10 cheaper than they were during Prime Day earlier in the year. If they weren't good, this would mean nothing. The Everest Max is a modular beast and the Everest 60 a dainty but wonderful clickety-clacker for type enthusiasts.

The modular design of the Mountain Everest Max allows you to customize it exactly the way you like. The numpad is attached on either side. The moveable media dock features a handy display. It also has four customizable display buttons that you can modify to your heart's content. The excellent switches can be hot-swapped too, making it a jack of all trades and master of many.

The Mountain Everest Max is for those of us disposed to the likes of fidget spinners and all manner of slippy, slidey, snap-it-off-and-on-again devices. We fiddlers, tinkerers. It's a wonderful modular keyboard that ticks all of the boxes for those who are inclined in this way.

You're looking at a left or right side detachable numeric keypad, a movable media dock with an LCD display, display keys that can be changed, a wrist rest that slots in, and hot-swappable switch. The Everest Max is the perfect solution for those who believe modularity is the future.

I don't think this modularity is gimmicky either. Dave noted in his review of Everest Max that the left or right side numpads are great because they allow you to keep more space for your mouse if you're right-handed. There's also another reason it's great: you can keep your mouse in place while using the numpad. This is a huge relief for those of you who spend a lot of time spreadsheeting.

This modularity is also backed by a nice mechanical keyboard that's sturdy and easy to type on. This version comes with Cherry MX Reds, my favorite Cherry switches. They are light and linear.

For this price, you get a lot of customization and versatility.

Mountain Everest 60 is a great little keeb, but not because it's modular like the Everest Max. Mountain offers accessories like the magnetic numpad or media dock that are found on the Max. But even without these, you get a great little keeb.

It is simply fantastic to type on. Dave stated that the keyboard gave him the "best typing experience I have ever had" in his review. This is the most straightforward recommendation one could give.

This is due to its enthusiast design choices, such as foam dampening and PBT keycaps. These features aren’t entirely unheard of, but they do narrow the field. The Everest 60 is one of the best choices within this subset.
