The Oregon Trail is being turned into a 'action comedy' movie with musical number.
The Oregon Trail, an educational videogame, is notorious for the brutal cruelty that it inflicts upon players as they try to make their way along a simulated journey to the west coast in the mid-1800s. You've probably played The Oregon Trail if you've ever had dysentery. Now, for some reason it's being turned into a live-action movie.
The first thing to note is that there are many Oregon Trail videogames dating back as far as the mid-1970s. They are a diverse bunch, but they all have one thing in Common: Bad News.

It goes on.
The Oregon Trail doesn't have a particularly upbeat view of pioneer life. It sounds like the film won't necessarily adhere to that aspect. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the film is in its very early stages and will be an "action comedy" with a little musical flair "in the style of Barbie." The Lucas Brothers, Max Reisman and Josh Gordon will write the screenplay. Will Speck will direct and produce.
This project is not the same as Organ Trail. It is not based off of the zombie game based on The Oregon Trail. Instead, it was born from a simple mistake.
There is no connection between this Oregon Trail and the real film. It is just a bit YouTube fun. I would pay to watch it.
Sincerly, I don't know how this film, which, for the record has no release date at this time, will be based on The Oregon Trail (videogames) rather than the infamous trip to the West itself, that has already been the topic of numerous film and TV treatments. I suppose that as long as someone is dying of dysentery, or if they can work in some fart jokes, you can call the job done.
