Tony Todd, who voiced Spider-Man 2 Venom and Half-Life 2 Episode 2's vortigaunts, has passed away

Deadline reports that Tony Todd, an actor who was 69 years old, died at his Los Angeles home on 6 November. No cause of death has been given.

Todd appeared in films like Oliver Stone's Platoon, as well as in several popular horror series. He played Candyman in the Candyman series and William Bloodworth for the Final Destination Series. He has also appeared in a number of television shows, including The X-Files, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Deep Space Nine.

Todd's career as a videogame actor began in 1998 with Star Trek: The Next Generation: Klingon honor guard, where he played the role of Commander Kurn. He then voiced the alien vortigaunts for Half-Life 2: Alyx and Half-Life 2: Epilogue 2, Admiral Tommy Briggs for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Venom for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 as well as the alien vortigaunts from Half-Life 2: Alyx. He has also appeared in Layers of Fear 2 and Artifact. He has also played in Star Trek Online, Star Trek: Elite Force 2 and Back 4 Blood.

Bloober Team, developer of Layers of Fear 2 wrote: "We mourn the death of Tony Todd, whose voice drew our attention to the shadows of Layers of Fear 2." Rest now, Tony. You are forever linked to the darkness that we braved. Insomniac also wrote: "Insomniac Games was heartbroken at the passing of Tony Todd." He brought joy to our studio and to many fans all over the world through his voice and presence during the production Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
