You can change the Steam Deck Boot animation? This TikTok user posts custom Steam Deck boot videos and now I want my own to start at the Scrubs introduction
If I had to criticize the Steam Deck in any way, it would be the battery life. If I had to criticize the Steam Deck in a minor way, it would be the power button. It's a bit fiddly for my clumsy hands, but I admit that it's probably just me. After that, you'll see a simple logo that tells you that a handheld gaming PC is on its way, followed by an animation. It's a bit default looking, if you ask me. Dull, even.
It was brought to my notice that I no longer have to suffer the tyranny a dull boot sequence. TikTok user, bradleyparks5, has posted videos of their Deck's custom boot animations. Each has been modified with great effect. My favourite has to be the Scrubs intro modified:

Glorious, isn't it? They've gone above and beyond to add custom text. "Created by Gabe Newell", indeed. At the very least, he and a team very clever Valve engineers.
The fun doesn't end there. How about a custom SteamDeck text on the Xbox 360 loading screens? Or maybe the Persona intro with its splashy, stylised display?
There's also the "Gabe Boy", a sound that makes my brain tingle like it would if I remembered an old holiday. Let's face it, I am a gaming geek. My childhood holiday was spent playing Game Boy games at the pool. I'm proud of that.

While editing videos to create appropriate texts may be a bit too much, it turns out that modifying your deck to show a customized boot animation isn't as complicated as you might think. YouTube has a variety of tutorials that will show you how to do it. You can choose from simple to more complex methods.
Voila! Ta-da! Your intro video will now set you apart from everyone else. You are now a Steam Deck modder. This is a great way to distinguish your handhelds if you have multiple Decks. I would still buy something like this to make myself stand out from the crowd.
You can also use one of these freestanding pillows to watch your Steam Deck, even if it doesn't do much for your image. Isn't that a bit much? I still want one.
Now, if you will excuse me, I am off to PC Gamerify my Deck boot to make it stand out. It's either that or the Game of Thrones title text with a crappy MS Paint overlay. I haven't decided yet, but there are so many possibilities, ey.
