The sequel that fans have been waiting for will finally happen, thanks to Al Hope, the creative director of Alien: Isolation.
Hope wrote: "When we began developing Alien: Isolation we had one guiding principal: To create an authentic experience that went to the roots the Alien franchise - a new story that captured the atmosphere and terror from the original 1979 film masterpiece."
It's been nothing less than incredible to see your passion for the games over the years, and to see it reach so much of the world. Your boundless enthusiasm, excitement, screams (!) Your boundless enthusiasm, excitement, screams (!)
Creative Assembly has done a great job with Alien: Isolation. In our 93% review we called it "the Alien series's long-awaited game" and "A fun, stealth game set within an evocatively realized sci-fi universe."
Fraser Brown, online editor, said in an anniversary retrospective that despite the critical success of the game and the many awards it has received over the years, "the below-expectation sale and high development cost made it a once-off." Sorry, Fraser.
This is one of those times when we're all happy to be wrong. Alien: Isolation is long overdue for a sequel, and the strength of the original should ensure that it's not overlooked this time.
No one knows when Alien: Isolation 2 will be released. Hope stated that the sequel is "in early development" and no other details were provided. The sequel is definitely real: Creative Assembly, the developer behind the original, has confirmed Hope's statement.
