David Hayter is teasing Metal Gear Solid fans with a role he hasn't played since ...'

David Hayter was a popular voice actor among gamers, but Hideo Kojima, a notorious star-chaser, replaced him with Kiefer in Metal Gear Solid 5 without any ceremony. Hayter hasn't been in the role for a while, aside from a few cameos here and there. But a recent tease by X gives some fans hope he may be returning.

Hayter (via Eurogamer) posted: "I was in a booth today." "Playing a part I haven't played since ..."

Then, just in case it was too subtle, he showed an animated image of Snake holding a knife.

The tease is as accurate as it can be, but the big question is where Snake will land in this turn. On that front, there is a relatively calm reaction. Some fans believe he is doing voice work for a promotional video or advertisement, or perhaps some supplemental work, for Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater, the remake of MGS3 in 2004. There's also a theory that Konami will be doing a new Hayter-dub for Metal Gear Solid 5.

Hayter's return to the role is a possibility, but it is not certain. Hayter has made it clear that he did not like the way that he was removed from the role. However, things have changed dramatically since then.

DifferentlyTiffany, a redditor, wrote: "Hayter will probably be more open to working again on Metal Gear now that Kojima has left the picture." "He was treated so badly after years of iconic performances but it seems that Konami is trying to build bridges with this new wave Metal Gear." It makes sense that they would reach out directly to the man."

Hayter seems to be happy to let the past go. He narrated Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series' first part, a video crash course in the series lore, and in a teaser 2023 for that series, he said, (teasingly), I hope you're prepared, because this is just the beginning.

David Hayter is reportedly doing something Snake related that probably won't be too exciting - unless it is. Be realistic about your expectations and yourself.
