Dragon Age: The Veilguard game director says that too many cameos from fan service can 'ultimately tarnish the arcs of these characters and their authenticity'

Dragon Age has created a number of beloved characters. It's not surprising that fans keep asking if they will appear in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. BioWare insists that they cannot all appear.

During The Veilguard preview event held earlier this month, BioWare was asked how they chose which characters to bring into Veilguard for cameos or side roles.

John Epler, creative director of the show, said: "It really comes down to whether they have a better story to tell." "We don't just want to bring back characters for you to be like, 'hey I recognize that person' But certain characters have a deeper story.

Do we have anything interesting to say about them? They have an interesting part? Does their story progress because of what they do, or don't do, in the story that we're telling now?

Game director Corinne busche agreed and said that "fan service can be exciting for a moment, but ultimately cheapens the arcs of these characters and their authenticity."

This is in line with all the returning actors that we have heard about so far. Morrigan's involvement is logical given her connection to the elven Gods. Everyone was excited to see her again. We also learned recently that your previous game protagonist The Inquisitor would make an appearance. This is not surprising, since they have an interest in stopping Solas’ whole world destruction.

This is more for those who have been waiting impatiently for Zevran to appear in The Veilguard, the Antivan Crow character from Dragon Age: Origins. We're going back to Anvita, and the Crows will be more prominent than ever. He did appear in Dragon Age 2, and that was already a stretch. We've gotta let him retire. I'll definitely have a word with someone if Dorian Pavus doesn't play a major role.

Veilguard news has been circulating for the past few months, so anyone who isn't already hiding their head in the ground to avoid spoilers should be able to find plenty of information. In the same Q&A, BioWare said that you may be able to give bad advice to your party members if they decide to date in The Veilguard. Some of you like to get dirty.

The Veilguard will launch on October 31, and we'll finally have all the answers for cameos, and everything else.
