Ghost of Tsushima Launches on PC and Sets New Records for Sony

Despite some missteps by Sony, the PC release of Ghost of Tsushima has been highly anticipated and has quickly surpassed the records of most other Sony releases on Steam.

Here’s what you need to know about the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima:
✅ The PC version includes all key content from the original game: the single-player campaign, the Legends multiplayer mode, and the Iki Island expansion. Full Russian voiceover is also available.
✅ The PC version is not sold in countries without an official PSN presence, which includes around 180 territories (such as Kazakhstan and other post-Soviet states except Ukraine).
✅ However, a PSN account is not required for the game: you can play the entire single-player content without a Sony account. Only multiplayer and PlayStation overlay features are restricted.
✅ The game has been specially optimized for Steam Deck. According to the developers, it lacks a compatibility badge only because the multiplayer mode requires some Windows features not available on Steam Deck. But you can play the single-player campaign as usual.
✅ The multiplayer mode supports cross-play, allowing you to invite friends from the console. It is formally in "beta."
✅ The port was handled by Nixxes, a studio known for delivering quality PC versions.
✅ The PC version does not use any special protection systems like Denuvo.



At the time of writing, Ghost of Tsushima's concurrent player count on Steam has surpassed 54,000. It has already outpaced the peaks of Horizon Forbidden West (40,000 players) and The Last of Us Part I (36,000 players), is about to surpass Horizon Zero Dawn (56,000 players), and has a good chance of overtaking God of War (74,000 players). However, it is unlikely to reach the record set by Helldivers 2 (459,000 players).

Currently, reviews are mixed at 68%, but there are only 333 reviews so far. The negativity is primarily due to the controversy over the forced PSN integration and the game's removal from 181 territories. Positive reviews also mention these issues, so it might take some time before the quality of the port itself becomes clear as the initial reactions settle down.
