The Expanded Universe of Friday the 13th Will Include Video Games

The owners of the "Friday the 13th" franchise have announced a reimagining, now called the "Jason Universe," which will encompass various forms of entertainment, including video games.

Here’s what the official announcement says:
✅ The "Jason Universe" will appear in films, games, experiences, themed merchandise, and other formats. Details will be revealed throughout 2024.
✅ Victor Miller, the writer of the original "Friday the 13th," will be involved in the new projects.
✅ The franchise is managed by Horror, Inc. One of the company's executives commented:

"Jason has a unique ability to stay at the forefront of pop culture for 44 years. He tops the charts as one of the scariest villains in history, known worldwide across generations thanks to billions of views on TikTok and millions of gamers and movie fans."

Sheri Conn, Global General Manager

There is speculation that one of the games featuring Jason will be Fortnite, as the "Jason Universe" account has followed the Fortnite account.

Several games have been released based on "Friday the 13th," with the most notable being the multiplayer horror game Friday the 13th: The Game. It received moderately positive reviews and seemed to sell very well, but fell victim to legal disputes among rights holders, leading to the closure of even fan-run servers.

Robert Barsamian, President of Horror, Inc., was an executive producer on Friday the 13th: The Game, so there is a possibility it might be revived in some form. Additionally, Barsamian is an executive producer on the series "Crystal Lake," a prequel to "Friday the 13th," being produced by A24 for the Peacock streaming service.
