Minecraft VR is currently ranked as the best VR game on PC. However, we will have to change that very soon. Mojang announced in the latest Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Changelog that its "ability to support VR/MR device has come to an ending," and will be dropped following a final update on March 2025.
Minecraft community manager Jay Wells said: "After you receive this final update, you can still play without a VR/MR headset and receive updates for your PC." "From this point forward, you can continue building in your worlds and your Marketplace purchases (including Minecoins), will be available on non-VR/MR graphics devices such as a computer screen.
"You will not be able use your VR/MR devices with Minecraft, as they will no longer supported in the latest update."
Mojang announced that support for PlayStation VR headsets would also end in March 2025.
It's a shame, because there aren't many people who enjoy the virtual reality Minecraft. I say that with all respect. It's also relevant that our inclusion on the list of the best VR games is accompanied by a caveat. "As a means to explore beautifully blocked vistas and ecomes from time-to-time, the VR works beautifully," but for regular gaming it's not "the best match."
The good news is, if you are a Minecraft VRer who is dedicated to the game, all is not lost. According to Road to VR, via Eurogamer, the Vivecraft mod is still available for Minecraft Java Edition. The QuestCraft Mod is also available for Quest headset users.
